History of the GenWeb ProjectIn March and April, 1996, a group of genealogists organized the Kentucky Comprehensive Genealogy Database Project. The idea was to provide a single entry point for all counties in Kentucky, where collected databases would be stored. In addition, the databases would be indexed and cross-linked, so that even if an individual were found in more than one county, they could be located in the index. In June, as the Kentucky Project was coming to completion, it was decided to create this page for all states, establishing the USGenWeb. Volunteers were found who were willing to coordinate the collection of county pages for a state page.

The Vermont GenWeb began in the summer of 1996 as a result of the nationwide effort called the United States Genealogy Web Project. USGenWeb brings together people who wish to share their genealogical interests and resources. It is broken down by individual states; with state GenWebs broken down by counties. Welcome to Vermont! My name is Sue Waite-Langley and I am the volunteer responsible for Addison County.
The Addison County GenWeb Project is a true community effort. I cannot do this alone! Therefore, I've converted the Addison County pages into a blog to make it easier for our visitors to share their information; ask questions; and help other researchers. Please "Register" for this blog and start posting today. You'll find the link at the top of the right sidebar. AND, while you're at it...please comment on any of the existing posts if you have additions or corrections to the information found there.
