1865 Addison County Diary | transcribed by Frank BensonLink: http://www.addisoncountyvt.org/1865AddisonCountyDiary.pdf
This diary, from 1865 and carefully transcribed by Frank Benson, was written by a man living on a farm in Addison Co., Vermont. He is of poor health but farms, does surveying, and has business in New York City and Galva, III, which was a famous railroad town at that time. His business is conducted with Mr. Wheeler B. Sweet who became first president of the Town Board of Galva. In New York City on railroad business, he stays at the home of Timothy C. Eastman, a wealthy dairyman. The Eastman family visits Addison Co. and the author's family in July. They did not stay at the farm but spend a lot of time there.
